Lauren Colbert is an artist and educator based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work is rooted in experimentation and explores the intersection of color, connection, and play through woven structures and sculptural forms. She started her textile career as an assistant costume designer in film and television and has worked with notable clients such as Netflix, HBO, Hulu and NBCUniversal. She has attended residencies at Peters Valley School of Craft, the Digital Weaving Lab at Praxis Fiber Workshop, Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild and at the NARS Foundation. Lauren teaches weaving at the Catskill Weaving School and has been a visiting instructor at Peters Valley School of Craft. She currently serves on the board of the Textile Study Group of New York (TSGNY). Lauren holds a BFA from Columbus College of Art & Design and an MFA from Parsons School of Design.
